Behind the wheel of a Toyota Celica specially prepared for the Pikes Peak hill climb in the Rocky Mountains, the Kiwi not only set the fastest time of the year (47.40 seconds) but brought a new kind of turbocharged spectacle to the event.

The 780hp Time Attack competitor stormed the 1.16-mile hill in 44.91sec. It was followed closely by Jean-Phillippe Dayraut in the big, intimidating looking Mitijet Mini Pikes Peak. Another Pikes Peak car completed the podium - Rod Millen did a 45.88sec run in the Toyota Celica Pikes Peak. Following those was a run of historic F1 cars.
